The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi has appointed new acting Heads of Departments with a charge on them to ensure optimal productivity.

The latest appointment conveyed in separate letters signed by the Vice Chancellor indicates that Dr Joseph Linus Akpan has been appointed Acting Head, of the Department of Pharmacology to replace Dr Sylvester Ohadoma.

In the same vein, Dr B.S. Oladeji continues as Acting Head, of the Department of Food Science and Technology, while Dr Emmanuel Ahueansebhor takes charge as Acting Head, of the Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education.

Dr Christie Elom Fisher of the Department of Anatomy has also been appointed as Acting Head, Department of Anatomy.

Their appointments, as contained in their letters of appointment, are for two years in the first instance.

The Vice-Chancellor, however, urged them to discharge their duties diligently by effectively administering their Departments to achieve the lofty goals of the current University Administration.

According to the Vice Chancellor, her administration will not hesitate to sanction any Head of Department who fails to turn in results within the given timeline, or who breaches University regulations.

This is even as she advised the Bursar to pay them approved allowances for officers of their level, while relevant sections of the University are being informed to accord them necessary courtesies associated with the office.
