The Dean stated that agriculture needs more research and innovation, saying it will help in ensuring food security.

The immediate past Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ausaji Ayuk who was one of the resource persons, said the world is evolving every day but realities are different.

He said students should know what they want in their various areas of research and how best they should be served.

Prof Ayuk said, '' It is not about where you have been but where you are, and where you are going that holds more keys to greater heights.''

He stated that approaches are shifting and reshaped with innovation on the top list of the framework for 21st-century learning, advising students to key into it.

The Founder of the Agrinexus Group of companies, Dr Shpermal Perera in his presentation on 'Commercial viability and productivity in Agriculture, Animal Science and Fisheries' said research has shown that in 2050, the demand for food will surge by 70% in line with the population growth.

Dr Perera averred that a United Nations (UN) study shows that about 9.9% of the world's population still goes hungry with environmental changes hard to predict, even as he stressed the need to embrace innovation in agriculture technology.

He advised students to think of 'intelligent agriculture' while urging them to embrace methods that are eco-friendly to curb the pandemic of disease in crops and plants.

This is even as he urged the PG students to embrace precision farming, farm automation, Water Management Technology, and minichromosomal Technology, amongst others.
