About Dr. Victor Otu Oka

Dr. Victor Oka is a Lecturer in the Department of Physiology of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Calabar. He began his academic sojourn with the University of Calabar as a Graduate Assistant in April, 2011. He rose through the ranks and is currently a lecturer II. He began his primary school education at the foremost Nigerian Navy Primary School, Calabar between 1988 and 1995 after which He proceeded to the Prestigious St.Patrick’s College Calabar where He obtained his senior school certificate in 2001. His educational journey continued at the Department of Human Physiology of the University of Calabar. He graduated top of his class with a second class upper degree in 2007. After his one year compulsory National service, his quest for education led him back to the University of Calabar where He bagged a master’s degree in Physiology in 2014 and a doctorate in 2017 specializing in Respiratory Physiology. He won a TETFUND institutional based grant in 2019 and has several academic awards such as best graduating B.Sc, M.Sc and Ph.D student for the years, 2007, 2014 and 2017. He teaches Physiology to B.Sc and Medical undergraduate students. His parents are Barr and Barr(mrs) Out Uket Oka who hail from Yakurr in Cross River State. He is a member of the Physiological Society of Nigeria (PSN) and has attended conferences and workshops within Nigeria. He has served as a timetable officer and is presently an examinations officer in the Department of Physiology. His research areas include Respiratory and Environmental physiology, where he has supervised over 20 undergraduate research projects. He has also published articles in reputable local and international journals. He is married with children.
