About Dr. Michael Anake Ushie

Dr. Michael Anake Ushie was employed at the University of Calabar in 2008 as Assistant Lecturer. He holds a B.Sc. (2000), M.Sc. (2005), and Ph.D. (2010) degrees in Sociology with a specialization in Demography from the University of Calabar. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (2005) obtained from the same University. Dr. Ushie has been teaching and contributing to the graduation of students at all levels in the Department since joining the University. He has attracted some Research Grants prominent of which is the Cross River Health Demographic Surveillance System in 2010 - a Canadian sponsored project hosted by the Directorate of Research, University of Calabar. He has successfully supervised over five graduate students. Dr. Ushie has published over forty articles in local and international peer-review academic journals. He has attended both local and international conferences where he made presentations. He served the Department as Examinations Officer and Academic Adviser between 2010 and 2016. He is a reviewer of the multidisciplinary Journal of Research and Development- A TETFund-sponsored journal domiciled in the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Calabar. He is a member of the Population Association of Nigeria, Nigerian Sociological Society, and so on. He is married with children.
