About Prof. Usang E. Usang

I am Prof. Usang E. Usang, the current Head, Department of Surgery, University of Calabar, Calabar. I was the immediate past Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, a position I held for four years. I am a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon, with the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), Calabar. My areas of interest are Teratology and Congenital malformations, Paediatric Gastroenterology, Colorectal Surgery and Neonatal Surgery. I am involved in the training of Medical Students at the Clinical levels as well as Postgraduate Medical Doctors admitted into the Residency Programme for Specialist Medical training in Surgery. Currently, I am an Examiner at the Primary, Membership or Part I and Part II levels of the West African College of Surgeons (WACS) and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN). I am actively involved in Research and I have to my credit several journal articles in reputable National and International Journals as well as several book chapters.
