About Dr. Theresa Ekpenyong Isamoh

Dr. Theresa Ekpenyong Isamoh is a lecturer in the department of Anatomical Sciences, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences in the University of Calabar. She got employed in the University in 2013 as an Demonstrator where she was teaching students (Preclinicals and Basic Medical undergraduates) during the histological practicals. She later transferred to an academic staff as an Assistant Lecturer in 2016. She obtained her MSc and PhD in 2012 and 2017 respectively from the department of Anatomical sciences in the University of Calabar. Her area of specialization is cellular and molecular biology. Dr. Isamoh has been involved in research, teaching, project supervision and mentoring of undergraduate students for the past 7 years. She serves presently as the Examination Officer in the department. Her areas of research interest include but not limited to Neurobehaviour, Cognitive neuroscience, Substance buse/mental health, Ethnopharmacological intervention in neurodegenerative disorders. Her current niche of research is on Ethno-pharmacological intervention in neurological disorders and relative toxicity of ethno-dietary plants on cognitive behaviour, brain health and brain cytoarchitecture. Dr. Isamoh is a member of several learned society including Anatomical Society of Nigeria (ASN), Neuroscience Society of Nigeria (NSN), Society of Neuroscientist of Africa (SONA), International Brain Society of Nigeria (IBRO) and Partner, Brain Awareness Week DANA Foundation (BAW). She has several published articles in reputable journals. She has attended several workshops, conferences both locally and internationally where she has presented several papers. She is a recipient of IBRO travel grant of 2019 to the 14th SONA international conference. Dr. Isamoh is a devout catholic, a strong advocate for persons living with sickle cell anaemia where she is an executive member of the Sickle Cell Support Network-Calabar. She is blessed with two handsome boys and she loves travelling, watching sports and documentaries
