About Dr. Sunday Asuquo Effiong

Dr Sunday Asuquo Effiong was employed as a Graduate Assistant in1998. He grew through the ranks and is currently a Senior Lecturer. Dr Sunday Effiong is a pragmatic and erudite teacher who believes in ensuring rock bottom understanding of concepts and constructs of each subject of delivery. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Accounting from the prestigious University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State (1994), a Master of Business Administration degree (2000), M. Sc. degree in Accounting (2002) from the renowned University of Calabar. Dr Effiong was admitted into the Doctorate of Philosophy degree (PhD) in Accounting of the University of Calabar in 2006. Dr Sunday Effiong is an Associate member (ACA) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), a Fellow of Institute of Company and Commercial Accountants (FCCA), a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration (FICA). He has held various managerial positions at both the departmental and faculty levels including Head of Department (2006-2008), Chairman, Department of Accounting Post Graduate Programme (2010-2012), Coordinator, part-time degree programme in Accounting (2010-2012), Examinations Officer (2008-2012), Faculty of Management Sciences Representative at Senate (2012-2014) and many others. Dr Effiong has taught many courses including cost accounting, management accounting, business mathematics, public sector accounting, company accounts, management information system, accounting information system and mining, oil & gas accounting, corporate finance. He has successfully supervised and co-supervised over thirty graduate students in both the Department and Faculty. Dr Effiong has attended more than twenty-five conferences/workshops and has equally delivered many conference papers at these fora. Dr Sunday Effiong developed the Weighted Average Unit Selling Price (WAUSP) in a Multi-Product Cost-Volume - profit – analysis and the synchronized models for adjusting historical cost and current cost data for the purpose of drawing up current cost financial statements in price level accounting. He has published more than twenty-nine scientific articles in both local and foreign journals. Dr Effiong is currently collaborating with other professionals on strategic economic development through effective organization of entrepreneurship education in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions. Dr Sunday Effiong is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and was a resident lecturer at ICAN/CRSG study centre, professional examinations assessor for eight years, ICAN Committee member on ME & T, Lead Accreditor to many institutions, E- Assessor on ICAN on-screen marking pilot test, MCPE monitor and Professional Examinations Reviewer. Dr Sunday Effiong is an award recipient from many renowned organisations. He is happily married with children.
