About Dr. Soter Ameh

Dr. Soter Ameh (MBBS, MPH, MSc, FWACP, FMCPH, PhD) is a Senior Lecturer and the Acting Head of the Department of Community Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, College of Medical Sciences, University of Calabar (2016-2018). He is a Scholar and a Visiting Scientist in the Lown Scholars Programme in cardiovascular disease prevention at the Department of Global Health and Population, Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health, Boston, Massachusetts, United States of America. In 2018, Dr. Soter was also appointed a Scholar in the collaborative initiative between Brown International Advanced Research Institute (BIARI), Brown University, U.S.A. and the Africa Population Health and Research Centre (APHRC), Nairobi, Kenya. Concerning his research interests, Dr. Soter’s main focus is on leveraging the positive lessons from the HIV programme for the management and control of chronic non-communicable disease (NCDs) through an integrated management model. Other than NCDs, Dr. Soter has also done extensive work in Malaria, Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, Ebola and health systems research, specifically using evidence-based research to strengthen service delivery at the primary health care level.
