About Dr. Simon Idoko Okweche

Dr SIMON IDOKO OKWECHE joined the Department of Forestry and Wildlife Resources Management, University of Calabar in 2013 as a Lecturer 11. He had his Masters and Doctor of Philosophy (Entomology) in 2006 and 2012 from the University of Agriculture Makurdi, Nigeria and University of Calabar, Nigeria, respectively. His research interest is pest management in forest and arable crops, pest ecology and Entomophagy. Dr Okweche teaches and supervises students at both the undergraduate and post graduate levels. He is currently supervising a Master student and assistant supervisor to 2 PhD students. He has held many active positions in the Department since joining the staff team. He loves attending both local and international conferences and workshops and has published papers in reputable journals. He is a member of learned societies such Entomological Society of Nigeria (ESN), Nigeria Society for Plant Protection (NSPP), International Society of Pesticidal Plants (ISPP), African Association of Insect Scientist (AAIS), International Association of Plant Protection Sciences (IAPPS) among others. He is the South-South Zonal Coordinator, Nigeria Society for Plant Protection (NSPP).
