About Dr. Samuel Manyo Takon

Samuel Manyo Takon obtained his B.Sc. (second class upper) in Banking and Finance from Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Enugu. He then proceeded to university of Nigeria, Enugu Campus where he obtained his M.Sc and Ph.D degrees all in Banking and Finance. He joined the services of the University of Calabar on the 19th of December, 2014 as lecturer 1. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Policy Management Development and a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria. His research interests are focused on Strategic Financial Management, Financial Decision-making Processes, Comparative Financial System, Capital Market, Banking and Financial Services, with a main focus on Emerging Markets. He is a co-author of a text book titled: Nigerian Financial Environment -- A Theoretical Exposition. He has authored/co-authored several Journal articles. He participated in the 8th International Conference of the Accounting and Finance Research Association held in University of Calabar International Conference Center in 2018 where he made a presentation on: Developmental Imperative of SMEs for National Development: The case of Nigeria. He is an experienced Banker having work for about 20 years (1981-2000) and received a long service award in 1991 and 1996 respectively from Union Bank of Nigeria PLC. He has lectured in Caritas University Enugu from 2007-2014. He is currently lecturing and supervising students up to Ph.D level in the Department of Banking and Finance in the University of Calabar, Nigeria.
