About Dr. Samuel Sunday Akpan

He joined the services of the University of Calabar as Technologist II in 1993. By dint of hard work, resilience and the grace of God, he was converted to Lecturer II in 2010 after he had risen to the post of Assistant Chief Medical Laboratory Scientist as a Technical Staff. He was promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturer in 2016. He holds AIMLT from School of Medical Laboratory Technology in 1991, M.Sc. degree in Medical Parasitology (2002) and PhD degree in Medical Parasitology (2008) from the University of Calabar. He has been teaching, researching and contributing to the growth of the University since he joined the University. He has published several articles in both local and international peer reviewed academic journals in his area. Dr Akpan has attended many conferences where he presented papers. He is a Fellow of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria. He currently co-supervises three PhD and successfully supervises two M.Sc. and four under-graduate students. He is a keen sportsman, with astounding skills in football. He is married and has children.
