About Mr. Pius Tom Umoren

Dr. Pius Tom Umoren is a Library and Information Scientist, a Legal Practitioner as well as Lecturer and Media Practitioner. After his primary and secondary education, he furthered his studies at the University of Calabar where he obtained a Diploma in Public Administration in 1992, LL.B (Hons.) and B.L degrees in Law at the Nigerian Law School respectively in 1999 and 2003. He proceeded to and obtained a P.G.D.E in Education in 2006 before venturing into the Library and Information Science discipline where he bagged a Masters Degree in Library Science in 2011 and a Ph.D degree in Library and Information Science with specialty in Law Librarianship in 2018. Dr. Umorem was awarded a study fellowship by the University of Calabar to undertake his Post Graduate programmes. Dr. Umoren has 16 years teaching experience and counting to his credit. Dr. Umoren mentors both undergraduate and graduate students of different tertiary institutions in Nigeria and outside including the University of Calabar, the University of Uyo, the Cross River State University of Technology, Calabar, the Le Meriden University of Cameroon as well as the Heritage Polytechnic Eket, Akwa Ibom State and Northworth School of Management and Health Technology, Calabar amongst others. Dr. Umoren is a researcher as well as an author with both Journal articles and text books publications in his areas of specialty to his credit. He is also an attendee of various conferences and workshops held at various times in the past and the present years. Dr. Umoren is a member of many Professional Associations including the Nigerian Bar Association; the Nigerian Library Association and as well as the Nigerian Association of Law Libraries. He is happily married.
