About Dr. Peter Unoh Bassey

Dr. Peter Unoh Bassey joined the services of the University of Calabar in 1998 as Graduate Assistant in the then Department of Educational Foundations, Guidance and Counselling. He was promoted Associate Professor of Educational Psychology in2015. Dr Bassey specializes in social personality development. Since joining the University, he has been teaching, mentoring and contributing to the graduation of students i the University. Dr Bassey has about thirty seven publications spread across both local and international high quality peer reviewed journals and seven book chapters. He is a returning member of the Common Ground Research Publishers based in the USA. He has attended a lot of academic conferences, workshops, symposia and seminars within and outside Nigeria including UK, Canada, Turkey, Chicago and Israel where he presented academic papers. He is equally a member of some professional associations, some of which are Nigerian Society of Educational Psychologists, Nigeria Society of Psychological Research, Counselling Association of Nigeria, Association of Productive Empirical Psychologist of Nigeria and World Council for Curriculum and Instruction. He has successfully supervised and co-supervised many graduate students comprising eight masters and three Ph.D theses. local and international . He is currently working on three major research areas including socio-cultural barriers and inter-generational relationships between youth and the aged: The Cross River State Experience, social behavior variables and aggressive tendencies among College of Education students in the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria and an exploratory study of mentorship among lecturers in higher institutions in Nigeria- A case study of the University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria.
