About Dr. Paulina Ackley Akpan-Idiok

Dr. Paulina Ackley Akpan-Idiok is a Lecturer in the Department of Nursing science, University of Calabar. She has attained the following academic Credentials: Ph.D, MSc, BSc degrees in Nursing; PGDE. Professional Certifications:RM; RN; PHNO, CHO; PHCT; RNE;FWACN. She also specializes in Medical Surgical Nursing(Adult Health /Child Health) with Clinical and Research Skills/ focus in Oncology Nursing, Pain and Palliative care, Primary Health Care Nursing, Counselling, Nursing Education and has over 20 years teaching experience, 16 years in Diploma and Higher Diploma Community / Primary Healthcare Nursing School, and other years at the university level. Apart from classroom teaching and supervision of research projects and seminar papers of undergraduates and graduate students, she has served in many administrative capacities: Departmental examination officer, Registration officer, Course Coordinator, welfare officer, Post-Graduate Teaching and the other work experiences as an academic in other universities. She has over 20 publications in prints and electronic press, peer- reviewed/ learned journals and presented scientific papers at local and international conferences. She is a member of the following Learned Societies: Member, Nigerian Cancer Society; Member, Oncology Nursing Society (ONS); Member: International African Organization for Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC/ ORAEC); Member: Hospice & Palliative Care Association of Nigeria (HPCAN); Member: Psycho-Oncology Society of Nigeria (POSON/ APOA); Member: West African College of Nursing (WACN); Member: National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNAM); Member: Academic Staff Union of Universities.Member, Society of Oncology and Cancer Research of Nigeria (SOCRON). She is married with four children to Professor Ackley Ufot Akpan-Idiok , Department of Soil Science University of Calabar, Calabar.
