About Dr. Victor Ikechukwu Canice Nwagbara

Dr Victor Ikechukwu Canice NWAGBARA, is a Medical Teacher and Specialist Surgeon. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery, University of Calabar and concurrently a Chief Consultant General Surgeon University of Calabar Teaching Hospital with sub-specialty interest in Colo-Proctology, Surgical Oncology and Abdominal Trauma/Pathology. He took up appointment with the University of Calabar in 2010 after obtaining the Fellowship of West African College of Surgeons. Dr Nwagbara is currently the Acting Head, Department of Surgery and immediate past Post-Graduate Medical (Residency Training) programme Coordinator, in the department of Surgery. He has vast experience in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, clinical training and mentoring for more than 15 years in addition to many administrative responsibilities and community services. He is actively engaged in medical research and has published many peer-reviewed journal articles in reputable local and international Journals. He has also attended many local and international Conferences where he made useful contributions through paper presentation and discussions. Dr Nwagbara is currently working on Colorectal Malignancies. He is a member of several academic and professional association/societies. He is happily married with children. His hobbies include playing Chess, Lawn Tennis and Listening to Music.
