About Prof. Josiah Asime Lennox

Prof. Josiah Lennox is an erudite scholar who has vast wealth of experience in teaching and research. His flare for knowledge has exposed him to diverse areas of science as his employment history can testify to. His employment history started in USA between 1986 and 1993. He first worked with F.M.C. Corporation, Agricultural Chemical Group as a Quality Control Technologist. Curtis Bay, Maryland. U.S.A. from 1986 to 1987. He later moved to Nova Pharmaceutical Corporation where he served as a Pharmacology Research Laboratory Scientist, Dundalk, Maryland. U.S.A. between 1987 and 1988. Before he returned to Nigeria in 1993, he served as an Environmental Scientist in a Technical Testing Laboratory in Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.A. between 1989 and 1993. He enrolled for the mandatory National Youth Service Corps programme where he served from 1994 to 1995 in the Department of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, University of Calabar. He was offered employment immediately as Lecturer II after his passing out from the scheme in the same department, now Department of Microbiology, in 1995. He rose through the ranks and was promoted to the rank of Professor of Food/Industrial Microbiology in 2017. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Biology with specialization in Microbiology awarded by the Towson State University in 1984, M.Sc. degree in Microbiology from the Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, New Jersey, U.S.A. (1989) and a PhD degree in Food/Industrial Microbiology awarded by the University of Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt, Nigeria in 2010. He also holds an Associate Degree of Arts (Medical Laboratory Technology) from the Community College of Baltimore, Baltimore, Maryland. U.S.A. (1980). Prof. Lennox has been teaching, researching and mentoring students thereby contributing to the growth of the University. Also, he taught at Federal University, Lafia, Nigeria where he served a one- year sabbatical leave appointment. Finally, he has served as Adjunct Lecturer with the Cross River University of Science and Technology between 2014 and 2016. Prof. Lennox has successfully supervised and co-supervised many students’ thesis in these Universities. He has attended and presented papers in both oral and poster modes in many scientific workshops, seminars, symposia and conferences within and outside Nigeria. He is a reviewer to many reputable journals. Prof. Lennox has served the University in many other capacities including Acting Head, Department of Microbiology between 2010 and 2012. Prof. Lennox is a member of many learned societies including Nigerian Environmental Society, Nigeria Society for Microbiology, Nigeria Society for Food Science and Technology and Micological Society of Nigeria.
