About Dr. Janet Sunday Petters

Dr. Janet Sunday Petters is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Guidance and Counselling, University of Calabar. She holds a B.Sc. (Hons) degree from the Department of Biochemistry, University of Calabar where she graduated as the best graduating student in 1984. She obtained her Post-Graduate Diploma in Education in 1989 and M.Ed and Ph.D in Guidance and Counselling in 2000 and 2010 respectively from University of Calabar. Dr Petters transferred her service to University of Calabar in 2006 as Assistant Lecturer from the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Education where she had been working. She rose through the ranks and was appointed Senior Lecturer in 2016. Dr Janet was the pioneer Head of Department of Guidance and Counselling from 2016 to 2018. Dr Petters major area of specialization is career guidance and counselling. She has been teaching and contributing to the graduation of students at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels. She has successfully supervised and co-supervised over five graduate students. Dr Janet Petters has over thirty scholarly articles spread across both local and international peer review journals. She has also presented scientific papers in both local and international conferences. She is married with three children.
