About Dr. Itang Ede Egbung

Dr (Mrs) Itang Ede Egbung is an academic staff in the Department of English and Literary Studies, University of Calabar, Nigeria. She began her work experience with the University in July 2001 when the University employed her as an Editor III in the Vice Chancellor’s office. Following her successful completion of an M.A. programme in African Literature, she was converted to an academic staff in the Department of English and Literary Studies in 2009 as an Assistant Lecturer. She steadily progressed through the ranks and was promoted to the rank of Lecturer 1 in 2015. Dr Egbung obtained her Ph.D in African Literature with specialization in Gender Studies from the University of Calabar in 2013. As an academic staff, she has been involved in teaching, supervision and mentoring of students at both undergraduate and post graduate levels. She has successfully supervised and co-supervised and graduated graduate students in African Literature. She has published in many local and international peer reviewed journals, books and book chapters. Dr Egbung is the author of Gender Complementarity in African Literature. Dr Egbung has participated in many local and international conferences, workshops, seminars and symposia where she presented papers. Dr Egbung is serving the University as Examinations Officer in her Department. She was a member of the Local Organising Committee of the Biennial Conference of the Reading Association of Nigeria held in the University of Calabar in 2017. She is a member of several professional bodies, including African Literature Association, English Language Teachers Association, Reading Association of Nigeria and Faculty of Arts and Humanities Association of Nigerian Universities.
