About Dr. Iquo Bassey Otu-Bassey

Iquo Bassey Otu-Bassey is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, University of Calabar, Calabar. She holds a Ph.D in Medical Parasitology from University of Calabar (2009). She was Coordinator of Undergraduate programme in Medical Laboratory Science, Histopathology Unit (2012-2014) and Coordinator of undergraduate and Post graduate programmes in Medical Microbiology and Parasitology Unit of the Department (2014-2016). She is currently the Acting Head of Department of Medical Laboratory Science, University of Calabar, Calabar. She has been involved in teaching, research, learning and mentorship for the past 34 years. Her area of specialization is Medical Helminthology with research interest in intestinal parasitic infections and their effect on the host in relation to other diseases symptoms. E.g Enterobiasis and its relationship with anal itching and enuresis. She has supervised several undergraduate and graduate students to date. She has several publications in reputable Journals both locally and International and has attended several conferences and training workshops and capacity building seminars.
