About Dr. Idang Neji Ojong

Dr. (Mrs) Idang Neji Ojong joined University of Calabar in 2008 as Assistant Lecturer and rose to the rank of Senior Lecturer in 2017. She holds B.Sc. degree in Nursing Science (1998), Post Graduate Diploma in Education (2001), Masters in Educational Administration and Planning (2004) and Ph.D in Educational Guidance and Counseling 2012 all from University of Calabar. She also holds M.Sc. degree in Maternal and Child Health Nursing (2016) from University of Nigeria. She is a registered Midwife, registered Nurse and registered Nurse Educator with Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria. Her main area of interest is Maternal and Child/Newborn Nursing. Since joining the University, she has been teaching and contributing to the graduation of under and postgraduate students in the University. She has successfully supervised and co-supervised over ten postgraduate students spread across various Departments. Dr Ojong has over forty publications in peer review local and international Journals. She is also a research midwife and has presented her works in both local and international conferences. She has been reviewing manuscripts for Global Journal of Medical Science and the International Research Journal in Medicine and Medical Science. Dr Ojong has been serving as external examiner and examiner to many professional examination bodies. She has participated in over ten outreach programmes in Health Promotion and Awareness Campaigns with various professional organizations. Dr Ojong is currently working on the utilization of cervarix vaccines amongst students in selected tertiary Institutions. She is currently a resource person for Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Programme for Nurses in Cross River State. Dr Ojong is a member, Cross River State Nursing & Midwifery Council Accreditation Committee, member, North American Nursing Diagnosis Association International African Network, member, National Association of Nigerian Nurses/Midwives, member, Counseling Association of Nigeria and member, National Association of Educational Administration and Planning. She is a Fellow of West African College of Nursing (FWACN). Dr Ojong is married with children
