About Dr. George Atelhe Atelhe

Dr George Atelhe joined the services of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2007 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Political Science. He was later promoted to the rank Lecturer I in 2013. Dr George later transferred his services to University of Calabar in 2014. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Political Science from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2003. He was latter awarded M.Sc. and PhD degrees in Political Science by the same University in 2006 and 2012 respectively. Dr Atelhe’s main areas of specialization are Comparative Politics, Government and Politics and Conflict Studies. Throughout the period that he has spent in the University system, Dr Atelhe has been teaching, researching and mentoring thereby contributing to the growth of the University. He has successfully supervised and co-supervised over twelve graduate students comprising six PhDs and eight masters. He has attended and presented papers in both local and international professional conferences, workshops, seminars and symposia. Dr Atelhe has published thirty four journal articles in both local and international peer reviewed academic journals. He has served his Department, Faculty and University in several capacities including Acting Head of Department of Political Science (2017 till date), Chairman, Department of Political Science Graduate Committee between 2015 and 2017, member, University Committee on Monitoring and Evaluation and many others. He is a member of many professional bodies including, Nigerian Political Science Association and American Political Science Association. He is happily married.
