About Dr. Pauline Ayuk Essoka

Dr. Pauline Ayuk Essoka holds the Bachelor of Science Degree in Geography (Second Class Upper Division) (1998); a Master of Science in Geography (Biogeography) (2000) and a PhD in Geography (Soil Geography) (2008), all from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. Dr Essoka began her career as a lecturer in the Department of Geography, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from 1998-2008. She joined the Kogi State University Anyigba between February 2009 to March 2011 and eventually the University of Calabar, in April, 2011 as a Senior Lecturer. Dr. Essoka was a Visiting Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geography, Benue State University, Makurdi between 2010 and 2012. In the course of her career, she rose from a Graduate Assistant to the rank of an Associate Professor and has held several positions amongst which include: the Departmental Examination Officer (1998-1999); Chairman, Departmental Environment Committee (2001-2006); 400 Level Project Coordinator and Coordinator 200 Level Practical Course (2004-2007); Departmental Post Graduate Coordinator (2011) and the Departmental Graduate Committee Chairman between 2013 and 2017 amongst other responsibilities. Dr. Essoka has taught/supervised several undergraduate students, and so far supervised twelve students at the post graduate level. She has published forty journal articles both foreign and local. She is a member of the Association of Nigerian Geographers (ANG), member, Soil Science Society of Nigeria (SSSN); member International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS) and member, Society for Occupational Safety and Environmental Health (SOSEH), Nigeria. Her area of specialization is Soil/Biogeography with current research interest on Land Evaluation and Environmental Management.
