About Dr. Peter Ereh Oko

Dr. Peter Ereh Oko holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (B.Sc.) in Geography and Regional Planning, a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Environmental Education, a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree in Geography and Environmental Science all from the prestigious University of Calabar, Nigeria and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PDGE) from the Nigeria Teachers Institute (NTI), Kaduna in affiliation with Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto. He is a Population, Environment and Development expert. Consumed with passion for teaching, Dr. Peter started his lecturing career in the Department of Geography, Federal College of Education, Obudu where he taught for eleven years. He became the pioneer Head of Department of Geography, Federal College of Education, Obudu from 2013 to 2015 before transferring his service to the Department of Geography and Environmental Science, University of Calabar. Currently he is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Environmental Resource Management, University of Calabar, Nigeria where he teaches courses in Population, Environment and Resources, Population Movement and Environment, Environmental Protection and Management, Food production systems and Land use Studies, Population Theories, Trends in Population Policy, Population Problems, Urban Planning Practice and Analysis, Techniques of Demographic Analysis and Concepts and Strategies of Rural Development among others. He is currently the departmental coordinator of field work and Secretary of Faculty of Environmental Science Research Committee. Dr. Oko associates himself with many professional bodies including Association of Nigeria Geographers (ANG), Nigeria Environmental Society (NES), Association of Nigeria Teachers (ANT) and National Association for Research Development (NARD), to mention a few. He has published widely in learned local and international journals and has presented cutting-edge papers in conferences covering population, environment and development.
