About Dr. Cecilia Akpana Beshel

Dr (Mrs) Cecilia Beshel joined the services of the University of Calabar in 2012 as Lecturer I in the Department of Adult and Continuing Education after successfully transferring her services from the Cross River State College of Education, Akamkpa where she served between 2008 – 2012. Before she was ceded to the College, she had served in the Cross River University of Technology between 2003 and 2008. She rose through the ranks and was promoted Senior Lecturer in 2016. Dr Beshel holds a National Certificate in Education obtained from Cross River State College of Education, Akamkpa in 1994. She was awarded a B.Ed. degree in Adult and Continuing Education, specializing in Extension and Social services, by the University of Calabar in 2001, M.Ed and Ph.D degrees in Cooperative Management in 2006 and 2011 respectively by the University of Calabar. Since joining the University, she has been teaching, mentoring and researching thereby contributing her quota to the development of the Faculty and University at large. She has served the Department, Faculty and University in various capacities including Student/Academic Adviser (2012 till date), Examinations Officer (2014-2016), Member, Departmental Welfare Committee (2013-2018), Member, Departmental Handbook Review Committee (2015-2016), Member, International Journal of Lifelong Education Committee (2016-2018), Member, Departmental Vetting Committee (2018 till date), Member, Faculty Conference Committee (2016-2017), Member, Faculty Welfare Committee (2017-2018) and Faculty of Education Examination Committee (2018 till date). She has attended many local conferences, symposia, seminars and workshops where she made presentations. She has published many articles in both Local and International Journals and has contributed several chapters in books. Dr Beshel is a member of many professional bodies including the National Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria and National Council of Adult Educators of Nigeria. She is married and the marriage is blessed with children.
