About Prof. Cecilia Olunwa Ekwueme

PROF. (MRS) CECILIA OLUNWA EKWUEME is a Professor of Mathematics Education at the University of Calabar. Born at Uwani Enugu into the family of late Matthew and Mary Ugwu of Ovoko-Agu, Cecilia had her primary education at St Stephen Primary School, Ovoko-Agu; Secondary School at Urban Girls’ Secondary School, Nsukka; First and second degrees at University of Calabar, Ph.D at University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She joined University of Calabar in January 2001 and she was the Pioneer Head of Department of Science Education, Faculty of Education, University of Calabar. Her department had full accreditation in all her four programmes during her headship. A Mathematics Education scholar who has written over sixty-one research articles in renowned professional Journals both within and outside the country, written text books in mathematics education and travelled wide (within and outside the country) and attended both local and international conferences and presented papers. She has also successfully supervised seventeen masters’s and ten Ph.D students. She is a proficient and dedicated teacher who is so much in love with Mathematics Education. Held numerous positions as chairperson, president, secretary, committee member, quality assurance assessor. Editor of Global Journal of Educational Research and also Member of Editorial Board – International Journal of Research and Development.
