About Dr. Azubuike Solomon Ekwere

Dr Azubuike Solomon Ekwere is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geology, Faculty of Physical Sciences in the University of Calabar. He holds a B.Sc degree in Geology from the University of Calabar (2000), M.Sc degree in Mineral Exploration from the Department of Geology, University of Ibadan (2004) and a PhD in Environmental Geosciences/Hydrogeology from the Department of Geology, University of Calabar (2010). Dr. Ekwere is an astute, hardworking and goal oriented researcher. He has published a remarkable number of academic articles in both local and international journals as well as authored a book on hydrogeochemistry from his PhD research. His research interests and as evident in his publications, straddle the fields of; Environmental Geochemistry, Hydrogeology/Hydrogeochemistry and Water Resource Management. He has also been involved in numerous consultancy services on Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and Hydrological Monitoring and Assessment for a wide range of clients. Dr Ekwere is a recipient of the World Bank/STEP B – Innovators Of Tomorrow (IOT) Research and Technology Development Grant (2010). He is currently a Research Consultant with UNICEF Abuja office in Nigeria. He is also the Research Team Leader of the Geological and Environmental Research Group (GERG), Department of Geology, University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria. His hobbies include football, hiking and swimming.
