About Dr. Apeh Columba

Apeh, Columba A. (Ph.D) is presently a Senior Lecturer of Theatre Design and Technology in the Department of Theatre, Film and Carnival Studies at the University of Calabar-Nigeria. For approximately sixteen years of teaching and researching both in theory and performative experience respectively. He holds a Ph.D (2016) in Theater and Media Studies (Theatre Design and Technology) from the University of Calabar, a Master’s in Theatre Arts (2002), from the University of Calabar and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre Arts (1998) from the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State-Nigeria. He obtained his West African School Certificate (1991) from Odofin Secondary School, Mile 2, Badagry Express Way, Lagos-Nigeria, while he earlier accomplished his First School Leaving Certificate Programme (1985) from Barrack primary School, Kirikiri Town, Lagos-Nigeria. Dr. Apeh, Columba was honoured by national Youth Service Corps with “State Honours Award” Ogun State (2000), National Youth Service Corps best technical Director of the year Award, Ogun State (2000), the University of Calabar Study Fellowship Award (2005). He attended several academic oriented conferences locally and international. He is currently working on two research projects; first – “Audience Perception of Architectural Provision for Audibility and Visibility in Performative Arts; second – Theatre Sound Aesthetics: Managing Sound and Equipment for Carnival Festival Performances” Apeh, has had couple of academic facilitations and collaborations with the Department of Music, Communication Studies and Tourism and Hospitality, all in Sasakawa Campus, University of Cape Coast, Ghana, Cross River State Carnival Commission, Tourism Bureau, Broadcasting Corporations (DSTV, StarTimes, GoTv, HITFM Radio, FADFM Radio, Cross River State Broadcasting Cooperation (CRBC) and Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) as well as Lambert Academic Publishing, Mauritius. He is an active member of the following professional associations. United Artistes of Nigeria Association of Nigeria Authors, National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners Nigeria, Calabar Carnival society of Nigeria, Theatre Arts and Research’s International Network. Dr. Apeh, has published ten (10) books and published several academic articles in reputable national and international journals.
