About Prof. Ansa Stella Asibong

Dr. Stella Asibong Ansa obtained her BA(Hons) English Studies from the University of Ife, Ile-Ife in 1982. She earned her MA English and Literary Studies, MA Linguistics and Ph.D Socio-linguistics from the University of Calabar, Calabar. She took up a teaching appointment with the University of Calabar as an Assistant Lecturer at the Centre for General Studies from there, she was posted to the Department of English and Literary Studies. She rose to the rank of Associate Professor. She has served the Department in different capacities. She has been an Exams Officer both at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels,Secretary to the Postgraduate Board of the Department, Coordinator of the use of English and Communication skills, the Acting Head of Department and two times Convener of the International Conference on African Literature and the English Language (ICALEL) 2013 and 2014.She has supervised over 10 MA and Ph.D candidates in the Department of English and Literary Studies and the Department of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages.She has published extensively both in local and international journals and has to her credit over 20 publications. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages.
