About Dr. Aniekan-Augusta Okon Eyo

Dr. Aniekan-Augusta Okon Eyo was employed as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, University of Calabar on 17th September, 2007. She rose through the ranks to Lecturer I in 2015. She has served as Departmental Examinations Officer and is currently the Unit Coordinator and Post Graduate Committee Chairman for Histopathology Unit. Dr Eyo obtained all her degrees from the prestigious University of Calabar, Nigeria. She holds a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (2001), M.Sc. in Medical Microbiology/Parasitology (2006) and Ph.D degree in Medical Microbiology with bias in Public Health and Pharmaceutical Microbiology (2016). She has also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Histopathology from the same University in 2018. Dr Eyo has been involved in the teaching courses at all levels and also contributing to the graduation of students in the University. Also, she has been participating actively in research and other academic activities in the University. She has successfully supervised and co-supervised over five graduate students. Dr Eyo has been actively participating in many local and international conferences, workshops, seminars and symposia, where she has presented papers. Her scholarly contributions are published in reputable peer reviewed academic journals and book chapters. She is also the facilitator for the American Society for Microbiology Workshops in South-South region of Nigeria. Dr. Eyo is a recipient of several awards and grants. She belongs to many learned societies and professional bodies including American Society for Microbiology, Graduate Women in Science, Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria, Nigerian Society for Microbiology, Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, amongst others. She is also an Associate of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria.
