About Dr. Aniefiok Ndubuisi Osuagwu

Dr. (Mrs) Osuagwu is a Senior lecturer in the Department of Genetics and Biotechnology, University of Calabar , Calabar. She obtained a Ph.D in Genetics and Plant breeding from UNICAL in the year 2002. Her research interest is in germplasm collection, conservation and genetic improvement of underutilized crop plants of  Southern Nigeria for increased food availability and sustainable development in the country. She is also interested in studies of effects of environmental stress agents on those underutilized crops. She was a visiting Scholar to Washington State University on STEP-B grant in the year 2012. In that same year 2012, she obtained a grant from NUFFIC, to attend a course on Plant Genetic Resources and seeds : Building community Resilience in the Challenge of Climate Change which was hosted in Chennai, in India. She has about twenty four publications in reputable academic research journals and has attended a large number of conferences for presentation of research findings.
