About Dr. Aniedi-Abasi Akpan Markson

I am an Applied Mycologist, Phytopathologist and an astute researcher of international repute. I research on Mushroom culture, particularly, on spawning, domestication and cultivation of wild mushrooms of our locality. At present, my research focus is on domestication of wild edible mushrooms of high nutritional profile in the South-South and South-eastern part of the country. I have been involved, over the years, in screening plants of medicinal value for pesticides and drug development. I belong to many professional organizations, among which are American Phytopathological Society (APS), Botanical Society of Nigeria (BOSON), Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), Nigerian Society of Plant Protection (NSPP), Mushroom Growers Association and currently, I am the National Secretary, Biopesticides Society of Nigeria (BpSN). I have also been involved in a lot of community service activities within and outside my institution, some among them include, Deputy Sub-Dean, Faculty of Science, Academic and Staff Adviser to the students' body, Department of Botany, Examination Officer, Project and Seminar Coordinator, member, Departmental Appraisal and promotion committee, Chairman, Departmental Graduate Committee, Visiting Lecturer, Department of Biological Sciences, Akwa Ibom State University and member, Academic Brief Committee, Akwa Ibom State University, Mkpat Enin, Akwa Ibom State.
