About Dr. Amenawo Ikpa Offiong

Dr. (Mrs) Amenawo I. Offiong is an Associate Professor of Finance in the Department of Banking and Finance in University of Calabar, Nigeria. She joined the services of the University of Calabar in 2000 as a Graduate Assistant, rose through the ranks, and was promoted Associate Professor in 2016. She is currently the Chairman of the Departmental Graduate Committee, a post she resumed in 2013. Dr. (Mrs) Offiong received her B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Banking and Finance, M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Finance from the University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria in 1998, 2003 and 2006 respectively. She is a seasoned scholar and astute administrator with research and teaching experiences in financial management, corporate finance, bank management, money and banking, monetary theory and policy, insurance and mathematics for finance. Her primary research interest is in the area of institutional finance and she has provided academic leadership in this area and other areas of finance including corporate finance, investment and portfolio analysis and financial intermediation. Dr. (Mrs) Offiong has held various responsibilities within and outside the University community including Acting Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, Acting Head, Department of Banking and Finance, Hall Warden, Senate Representative for the Faculty of Management Science, amongst others. Dr. (Mrs) Offiong has over twenty articles published in reputable refereed academic journals. She has successfully supervised and co-supervised over three doctoral dissertations, over ten Masters of Science theses and numerous MBA and PGDM projects at the University of Calabar. Dr (Mrs) Offiong is a regular participant in many academic conferences where she presented papers in her field of study. She has served many journals as reviewer. She has also represented the Graduate School as Internal Examiner for over ten Graduate students within the University. Dr (Mrs) Offiong is a member of many professional associations including Academy of Management Sciences. She is married with children.
