About Dr. Abo Iso Nta

Dr (Mrs) Abo Iso Nta is an Associate Professor in the Department of Zoology and Environmental Biology, Faculty of Biological Sciences, University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria. She was employed by the University in 1989 as a Graduate Assistant in the then Department of Zoology. Dr. Abo was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 2015. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Zoology and Environmental Biology (Entomology), an M.Sc. degree in Zoology, and a B.Sc. degree in Zoology, all degrees were awarded by the University of Calabar, Nigeria in 1987, 2000, and 2016 respectively. Her teaching and research interest include applied and environmental entomology, Biopesticides, and the use of local botanicals in pest control. She is a member of many professional bodies including the Entomological Society of Nigeria, the Third World Society for Women in Science, the Biopesticides Society of Nigeria, and the Nigeria Society for Plant Protection. Besides her normal duty calls, she has served the University in other capacities including Examinations Officer and Academic Adviser (2005 – 2011), Hall Warden (2006 – 2008), and presently the Acting Head of Department, Zoology, and Environmental Biology (2018 to date). She has attended many conferences, workshops, and seminars, where she made presentations in her area. Dr. (Mrs) Abo Iso Nta has successfully supervised three post–graduate students at the Master of Science level, four post-graduate diploma students, and over forty undergraduate students. She is currently working on the effects of Cylas puncticollis infestation on the nutritional value of sweet potato.
