About Dr. Violet Oyo Ekpenyong

Dr. Violet Awafung Oyo Ekpenyong was born on the 11th of June 1971. She attended Demonstration School Makurdi and the University Staff School Makurdi from 1978 to 1982. where she had her first School leaving certificate. She proceeded for her Secondary Education at Queen of Rosary Secondary School Gboko between 1983 and 1988, where she obtained her General Certificate of Education (GCE) ordinary level, thereafter, she went to the College of Education Akamkpa in 1991 to 1993 where she obtained her Nigerian Certificate of Education (NCE) in flying colours. She thereafter proceeded to the University of Calabar, where she graduated with an Honours degree of Bachelor of Education from the Faculty of Education, department of Adult Education. She obtained a Masters degree (M.Ed) in 2007 and Ph.D in 2014 repectively, specializing in Industrial and Labour studies from the same University. She started her career as a Teacher with the Cross River State Secondary Education Board and later moved to the Ministry of Education as a Quality assurance officer/ inspector of Schools. She later transfered her Service to the University of Calabar as an Academic Staff in the Department of Continuing Education and development studies. She also served as the Examination Officer for undergraduate UME programmes. Since her appointment, she has published in reputable Journals (both local and international) in her area of specialization; she has attended many conferences and workshops where she has presented quality Academic papers. She has also supervised many undergraduate research projects. She is a member of Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Nigerian National Council of Adult Education, Reading Association of Nigeria among others.
