EmailDr Samson Fabian Nzuanke was born in Obudu, Cross River State, Nigeria. He is a product of both Primary School No. 2, (aka St. Stephen’s) Obudu and Government Secondary School, Obudu, Cross River State, Nigeria. He started his academic career in the University of Calabar (Nigeria) where he obtained a Second Class Upper (Honours) bachelor’s degree in Languages and Linguistics in 1992 before proceeding to the prestigious Advanced School of Translators and Interpreters, University of Buea, Cameroon. There, he bagged a Master's degree in Translation in 1994, having been trained as a professional translator and Conference Interpreter. Dr. Nzuanke holds a second Master's degree in Public Administration and a Ph.D in French in International Relations from the University of Calabar, Nigeria. He has worked extensively at the international level as a professional translator and conference interpreter. Dr Nzuanke has taught Translation at the Department of Bilingual Studies, University of Yaounde 1 in Cameroon. He equally taught Language for strategic studies at the Centre for Research in Political and Strategic Studies (CREPS), University of Yaounde 2, Cameroon. His research interests are language, translation and international relations. He has many publications in these areas in highly reputable national and international peer-reviewed journals. He has also served as reviewer to many journals at both national and international levels.Dr Nzuanke has attended several national and international conferences where he made presentations. He currently teaches full time in the University of Calabar since joining the University in 2012. He has supervised and co-supervised many masters and Ph.D students. He is also serving other Universities as Post Graduate External Examiner. Dr Nzuanke was a one time Head, Translation Unit, University of Yaounde 2 in Cameroon (1999-2011). He has served the University of Calabar in many capacities including Head, Department of Modern Languages and Translation Studies (2015-2017). He is currently serving as the Director, Pre-degree Programmes. Dr Nzuanke is a member of the West African Institute of Translators and Interpreters (WAITI); member, University French Teachers' Association of Nigeria (UFTAN); Cameroon Translators and Interpreters' Society (CATIS) and many others. He is married with children.
