About Dr. Richard Ekonesi Orim

Dr. Richard E. Orim is a leading voice in Mathematics Education specifically in dyscalculia, acalculia and dyslexia. He holds a Nigerian Certificate in Education in Mathematics/Physics obtained from Federal College of Education, Obudu in 2002, B.Ed., M.Ed. and PhD degrees in Mathematics Education awarded by the University of Calabar, Nigeria in 2008, 2012 and 2016 respectively. A great and passionate teacher with wealth of experience, expertise, integrity, capacity, capability and humility in his job, Dr Richard started his career as a teacher with the Cross River State Universal Basic Education between 2002 and 2004 and latter, Cross River State Secondary Education Board between 2004 and 2012. He joined the services of the University of Calabar in 2013 as Assistant Lecturer in the then Mathematics Unit in the Department of Curriculum and Teaching. He was promoted to the rank of Lecturer II in 2016. Dr Orim has been teaching, researching and mentoring students in the University. He has published widely in learned local and international peer reviewed academic journals. He is a regular participant in many local and international conferences, seminars, symposia and workshops where he presented papers in some. He is a member of many professional bodies including Mathematical Association of Nigeria, Science teachers Association of Nigeria, Curriculum Organisation of Nigeria and National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Dr. Richard Orim is married and the marriage is blessed with children.
