About Dr. Ovat Egbe Okpa

Rev. Ovat Egbe Okpa holds a Masters degree (M.Ed) and a PhD in Educational Administration and Planning (Higher Education); Bachelor of Divinity degree (BDD), Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) and a Diploma in Theology (Dip. Th.). He is a lecturer at the Department of Educational Administration and Planning, University of Calabar, Calabar where he teaches courses in Educational management, leadership and policy at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has contributed to the development of education through teaching, research, dissemination of existing and new information and service to the community. His research interest is in higher education administration, funding, policy, quality assurance and pedagogy. He has published chapters in edited books and several articles in reputable local and foreign journals. He has served the University in different capacities including departmental Examination Officer (UME & CES), member departmental Accreditation Committee, Chairman Departmental Examination Monitoring Committee, member departmental Quality Assurance Committee, Departmental Time-Table Officer, member Faculty of Education Sandwich Fees Drive Committee and currently Deputy Chairman departmental Graduate Committee / Exam Officer. He worked with the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria for more than a decade before being seconded to the University of Calabar, Calabar. Rev. Dr. Ovat served as the National Public Relations Officer, an Ex-Officio member as well as a member of the editorial Board of the Nigeria Association of Educational Administration and Planning (NAEAP). He is also a member of the Commonwealth Council of Educational Administration and Management (CCEAM), and Higher Education Research and Policy Network (HERPNET. He hails from Ababene, Obubra L.G.A of Cross River State. He is married to Rev. Mrs. Esther Ovat and blessed with children.
