About Dr. Oru Takim Tiku

Dr. Tiku, OruTakim, is a registered social worker as well as a lecturer with the Department of Social work, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria where he presently serves as an Examination Officer for the NUC Programme of the Department. Holds of Doctorate (Ph.D.) and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Development Sociology from the prestigious University of Calabar, a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Sociology. He is a member of Nigeria Sociological and Anthropological Association (NSASA), Nigeria Association of Social Workers (NASOW), as well as a member of Society for Research and Academic Excellence (SRAE). He is a purpose driven and result oriented scholar with a tremendous zeal with a view to enhancing teaching and learning, academic advancement and community selfless service. With a huge experience in poverty analysis and alleviation, social development and transformation as well as child protection as a lead consultant with UNICEF. He has interest in poverty alleviation mechanisms, community as well as rural development and care for the vulnerable in the society such as children, displaced persons and the aged. Dr. Tiku has authored and co-authored a number of scholarly articles and presented papers in many conferences both national and international.
