About Dr. Okwu Augustina Onyema

Dr (Mrs) Okwu Augustina Onyema served the National Youth Service Corps in 2010 and rose to the level of Principal Inspector in 2017. In 2018, she joined the services of the University of Calabar as Lecturer II in the Department of Sociology. She holds a Diploma Certificate in Social Work from the University of Calabar (1996), B.Sc. degree in Sociology and Anthropology from the University of Uyo, Nigeria (1999), M.Sc. (2005) and Ph.D. (2014) degrees in Medical Sociology from the University of Calabar, Nigeria. Since joining the University, she has been teaching, researching, mentoring, and contributing to the graduation of students in the University. She has published over ten scholarly articles in both local and international peer-reviewed journals. She has attended and presented papers in many seminars, workshops, conferences, and symposia where she presented papers. She is a member of the Society for Research and Academic Excellence. She is also a member of the Nigeria Anthropological and Sociological Practitioners Association. She is happily married.
