About Prof. Nse Udo Essien

Prof Essien is a Sedimentologist with specialty in carbonate and clastic sedimentology. He graduated from the University of Calabar in 1984 and has since then practiced and upheld the profession of Geology in its highest esteem. He holds professional membership in reputable associations including Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society, American Association of Petroleum Geologist, Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists, etc. He holds a Master’s degree in Petroleum Geology/Sedimentology and PhD in Carbonate Sedimentology. Apart from his core area of specialization, he has contributed immensely in the fields of Petroleum and Environmental Geology, Ocean science (coastline resources, dynamics and landform studies) and Historical Geology. He has to his credit 1 PhD, 6 Masters and over 70 BSc students. Based on his strong desire for community development, he currently serves his constituency in the Akwa Ibom State Executive Committee as Honourable Commissioner of Science and Technology, Akwa Ibom State.
