About Dr. Maurice Terfa Akesa

Dr. Akesa Terfa Maurice is a lecturer in the Department of Plant and Ecological Studies with research interest in taxonomy of plants using chemical information, chromosomal information, structure information, information from breeding system, information from plant geography and ecology. He graduated from the Benue State University, Makurdi where he obtained his Ph.D in 2015. A widely travelled scholar and researcher highly cited in the world and a professional teacher registererd with Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, started lecturing at Benue State University Makurdi and Adamawa State University Mubi before he joined the services of University of Calabar, Calabar in 2018. He has mentored, taught, examined and supervised students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Dr. Akesa, T. M. has attended many conferences, received many awards, honours and prizes including Ogun State NYSC Honours award (1999). He is a member of Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) and member of Botanical Society of Nigeria (BOTSON). He is married to Mrs. Florence Nguseer Akesa and the marriage is blessed with five children. Languages spoken are Tiv, Yoruba, Hausa and English. His hobbies include listening to music and gardening.
