About Dr. Joseph Kimuabeye Ukwayi

Dr Joseph Ukwayi is an Associate Professor of Criminology and Sociology. He was born in Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State. He attended Army Children School 1 Division, Artillery School Kaduna State from 1974-1977 and Begiading Secondary Grammar school, Ohong in 1978-1983. He gained admission into the University of Uyo where he obtained B.Sc. degree in Sociology/Anthropology (1994). He obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDBA) from the University of Uyo in 1998. Dr Ukwayi started work as Graduate Assistant in the Department of Sociology, University of Calabar in 1999. He proceeded to University of Ibadan where he obtained M.Sc degree in Criminology in 2002. He was awarded PhD in Sociology/Anthropology with specialization in Criminology in 2008 by the University of Uyo. Dr Ukwayi is a Criminologist/Sociologist with longstanding teaching and research interests in criminality, social problems, health, tourism and gender issues. He has published more than sixty articles in foreign and local peer review Journals. He has held several positions of responsibilities. The Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences The Chairman, Centre for General Studies (GSS) and member of several Professional Association, member of several committees. He is married with five children.
