About Mr. John Arikpo Okri

Okri John Arikpo was born on the 12th of May, 1981 at General Hospital Ugep. He started his education at St. Veronica Primary School Itigive in 1990 in Abi Local Government Area, he graduated in 1995 with a first school leaving Certificate. Okri John proceeded to Secondary Education in 1995, then Agbo Comprehensive Secondary School Egboronyi, and later moved to Ibadan Municipal Grammar School in Oke-Ado Ibadan from 1996 to 2000, where Okri John completed his secondary school. On completion, he was admitted into the Department of teacher Education, University of Ibadan, for a two year Diploma Programme in 2001. Okri John is a “2009” graduate of Mathematics Education in the First Premier University of Education in Nigeria, Tai-Solarin University of Education Ijebu-Ode Ogun State Nigeria. Immediately, Okri, returned from his one year compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Okri proceeded to the University of Calabar, where he pursued a Masters Programme in the same University and obtained M.Ed. Degree in Mathematics Education, the then Department of Curriculum and Teaching and is currently pursuing a Ph.D in the Department of Science Education, faculty of Education, University of Calabar. Okri John, started his career as a Mathematics tutor in a private secondary school in Ibadan after his graduation in 2009. He has also taught in many schools as a volunteer, which gained Okri the opportunity to be employed into the University of Calabar International Demonstration Secondary School (UCIDSS) in 2013 where he taught further mathematics till 2016 and registered 95% credit level success on the students West Africa Examination (WAEC). Okri Johns’ flare, curiosity, passion and uniqueness to touch lives positively saw him applying and being given appointment as an academic staff in the Department of Science Education, University of Calabar, Calabar in May, 2016. Okri John has published in many scholarly journals both within and outside Nigeria and he has attended a number of conferences in which papers have been presented. He has supervised and taught undergraduate students from year one to year three. Okri has held many positions in the Department of Science Education such as Deputy Project Co-ordinator, Time-table officer/Examination and Monitory team. Okri is a certified Elementary, Secondary and Higher Institutions Mathematics Education tutor who has taught in all levels of Education. Okri John is married to Mrs. Ogechi John Okri in December, 2014 and the marriage has been blessed with lovely kids.
