About Dr. Idorenyin Asukwo Udo

Dr. Idorenyin Asukwo Udo was promoted to the rank of a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Crop Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Wildlife Resources Management, University of Calabar in 2015. Dr. Udo joined the university of Calabar as a Graduate Assistant in 1998. He holds a B. Agric (Crop Science, 1996) degree from the University of Calabar, M. Sc. Crop Science (Plant Pathology, 2004) and Ph.D in Crop Science (Plant Nematology, 2015) from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State. He has been teaching courses related to Crop Protection and Agricultural Statistics at the Undergraduate and Post-Graduate levels. His research interest is on ecofriendly management of Plant parasitic nematodes through the use of biological control agents, amendment of soil with organic manures, botanicals and resistant plant germplasm. Dr. Udo has supervised many undergraduate and Post-Graduate students. He has published many articles in reputable Local and International Journals and has attended many local and International Conferences. He is a member of many learned Societies including, Society of Nematologists, Nigerian Society of Nematologists, Nigerian Society for Plant Protection, Crop Science Society of Nigeria, Horticultural Society of Nigeria, Mycological Society of Nigeria, Organic Agriculture Project in Tertiary Institution of Nigeria and Biopesticides Society of Nigeria. He was among the team of consultants that evaluated the possibility of introducing Ecological Sanitation toilets (ECOSAN Project) in Eniong Clan, Odukpani Local Government Area, Cross River State (2009-2011) and Conservation Agricultural Technology Project of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development which covered Akwa Ibom, Imo and Ondo States (2012-2013). Dr. Udo has been the Departmental Examination Officer from 2015 to 2018. He is currently the Departmental Post-Graduate Chairman.
