About Dr. Grace Ime Ekpo

Dr. (Mrs) Grace Ime Ekpo started her career as the general Manager at IWE’s Nigerian Company. She later worked briefly with Step-B Project, World Bank Assisted Project with University of Calabar as an Administrative Officer. Her dedication and tenacity saw her being appointed as the Transition Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State in 2015 by the present Akwa Ibom State Governor. Her flare, passion to touch lives positively saw her applying and being given appointment as an academic staff in the Department of Biochemistry, University of Calabar, Calabar in 2016. She has worked hard and passionately rose to the position of Lecturer I as at the time of this report. Grace Ime Ekpo was born on the 9th of January, 1975 at Saint Margaret Hospital, Calabar. She started her education at Government Primary School, No. 1 Mayne Avenue, Calabar in 1978, she graduated in 1983 with a First School Leaving Certificate. Little Grace as she was fondly called by close associates refused to be satisfied with what was obtainable then for female education, thus, she studied hard, gained admission into the then prestigious NICO Secondary Commercial School, Calabar, Cross Rivers State where she obtained her Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE/WAEC) in 1998. Later, she got admission into the then prestigious Polytechnic Calabar now Cross River University of Science and Technology (CRUTECH) to study Science Laboratory Technology (Chemistry option). On completion, she was awarded National Diploma in 1993 and Higher National Diploma in 1997 respectively. She then left for her one year compulsory National Youth Service at Akwa Ibom State. On completion of her service, she tested labour market briefly to have a feel of it. While at the labour market, her passion for learning saw her have leave the labour to o back to school, so she went for Post graduate Diploma in Biochemistry, graduated in 2000. Then Masters of Science in Biochemistry (2003), Post-Grdauate Diploma in Education (2005). As if to ice the cake, she went back to obtain Post Graduate Diploma in Education and Doctor of Philo0sophy in Biochemistry specializing in Lipid. Dr. (Mrs) Grace Ime Ekpo have attended many conferences and participated actively in each of such conferences. She has published over ten (10) articles in both local and international peer group journals. She has collaborated with like-minds in research and science activities. She has supervised, mentored and taught students at graduate and post graduate level. Dr. Grace Ime Ekpo is married to the love of her life, Mr. Ime Willie Ekpo, the marriage was blessed with four lovely children. Grace is a mother, sister, a friend to her husband and her colleagues. She is a professed Christian with fear of God.
