About Dr. Godwin Bullem Anthony

Dr. Anthony, Godwin Bullem is an Associate Professor in the Department of Continuing Education and Development Studies, Faculty of Education, University of Calabar. He attended Cross River State College of Education, Akamkpa from 1990 to 1994 where he obtained a national Certificate in Education; University of Calabar, Calabar between 1995 and 1997 where he obtained his B.Ed. degree, and the University of Port Harcourt, where he obtained his M.Ed. and PhD degrees in 2004 and 2009 respectively. He took up his appointment with the University of Calabar as Graduate Assistant in the Department of Adult and Continuing Education on March 24, 1999. Dr Anthony rose through the ranks and was promoted Associate Professor in 2016. His main area of specialisation is Environmental Adult Education. Dr Anthony has been teaching, mentoring and contributing to the graduation of students at various levels in the University. Dr Anthony has successfully supervised and co-supervised over ten graduate students theses comprising one PhD, eight masters theses and several post graduate diploma theses. He has also held many other positions/appointments in the Department, Faculty and University including Coordinator of CAE/DAE programmes (2003-2004); Assistant Examinations Officer and Examinations Officer for NUC/B.Ed. programmes (2008-2009 and 2010-2014 respectively); Departmental Sandwich Programme Coordinator (2007-2008); member, Departmental Accreditation Committee (2010); member, Faculty of Education Advisory Committee (2014 to date); member, Departmental Journal Publication Committee (2015); member, Departmental and University Quality Assurance and Examination Vetting Committee (2015 to date); member, Faculty of Art Screening Committee (2015 to date); Faculty of Education Representative to Faculty of Social Science (2015 to date); Departmental Graduate Committee Chairman (2014-2016) amongst others. He has published locally and internationally in reputable journals and contributed to three book chapters. He has over ten international journal publications and thirty Local Journal publications. Dr Anthony is a regular participant in many conferences, workshops, seminars and symposia where he presented papers in some. He is a member of many learned Associations/Organizations including Nigerian National Council for Adult Education, World Council for Curriculum and Instruction and Environmental Education Association of Nigeria. Dr. Godwin Bullem Anthony is a recipient of many academic and other awards notable among them is the University of Calabar Study Fellowship award in 2002-2004 and 2005-2009 for his M.Ed and PhD programmes respectively. He is married with children.
