About Dr. Esther Samuel Uko

Dr(Mrs) Esther Samuel Uko holds a Ph.D degree in Educational Administration and Planning, which was awarded to her in 2000, M.Ed. degree in Educational Administration and Planning (1994) and a B.A. degree in English and Education (1984). All her degrees were awarded by the University of Calabar. Dr (Mrs) Uko joined the services of University of Calabar on 29th September, 1998 as an Assistant Registrar in the Administrative Cadre and progressed subsequently to Senior Assistant Registrar. She worked in the Administration for six (6) years covering the following Portfolios: Hall Administrator, Administrative Secretary with Centre for Educational Services (CES), Admissions Officer in the Registry, Examinations and Records Officer in the Registry before transferring to the Academic Cadre in June 2006 in the Department of Educational Administration and Planning. While in academics, she has been teaching and contributing to the graduation of students in the University. She has also served her Department and faculty in other capacities including Students' Projects Supervisor and advisor, Programmes Coordinator in Institute of Education between 2008 and 2011, Chairperson, Departmental Students' Fellowship/Ethics Committee from 2010 to 2014, Chairperson, Departmental Post-Graduate Board (2011-2015), Chairperson, Revenue Generation Committee (2012-2014), Institute of Education's Representative in Graduate School (2014- Date), Member Departmental Accreditation Committee (2015- Date), Acting Head, Department of Educational Administration and Planning between 2015 and 2017, Member, Senate of University of Calabar (2015-2017) amongst others. Mrs Uko served her Sabbatical Leave Appointment with the University of Benin, Benin City in the Department of Educational Management between April, 2018 and March, 2019. Dr Esther Uko has been a regular participant in many local and international confernces where she has been making presentations. She has over fifty publications in peer review local and international journals. She has successfully supervised and co-supervised over five graduate students. She is a member of many professional bodies including the national Association of Educational Administrators and Planning, Teachers' Registration Council of Nigeria. She is married with children.
