About Dr. Ernest Ikechukwu Ezeh

Ernest Ikechukwu Ezeh is an academic staff in the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine, College of Medical Sciences, University of Calabar, Nigeria. He joined the services of the University of Calabar in 2017 as a Lecturer I. Dr Ezeh holds an MBBS degree awarded to him by the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria in 2008. He also holds certificates from the International Council of Ophthalmology in Basic Ophthalmic Sciences, Optics and Theoretical Refraction, and Clinical Ophthalmology (2015 – 2016). Dr Ernest Ezeh is a Fellow, Medical College of Ophthalmology obtained from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in 2016 and a Fellow, West African College of Surgeons in 2017. His main areas of research interest include Cornea and Anterior Segment as well as Clinical Ophthalmic epidemiology. Dr Ezeh is actively involved in teaching, training, research, mentoring and academic collaborations, thereby contributing to the expansion of knowledge. As a Clinical Lecturer, he is an honorary consultant ophthalmologist with the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Calabar, Cross River State. He has his eyes on excellence. Dr Ezeh has successfully published over ten journal articles in reputable peer reviewed local and international journals. He is a regular participant in many local and international conferences where he made presentations and useful contributions. Dr Ezeh is a beneficiary of many academic and service awards including the Maiden Edition of the Most Outstanding Ophthalmology Resident Doctor in the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Calabar, Ekiti State NYSC Honours Award Batch B’ 2009/2010, Third Best Graduating Medical Student (2001 Class) from the Faculty of Medicine, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State and many others. He is a committed mentor to health professionals, youths, colleagues, resident doctors, and his students. Dr Ezeh is a member of many professional associations including the Nigeria Medical Association, Ophthalmological Society of Nigeria and Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria. He is happily married with children.
