About Dr. Emmanuel Etta Ekuri

Dr Emmanuel Etta Ekuri is an Associate Professor of Educational Measurement, Research and Evaluation in the University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria. He joined the services of the University in 1998 as Lecturer II and rose through the ranks to be promoted Associated Professor in 2015. He holds a B.Sc.(Ed) degree in Chemistry Education from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1988), M.Ed. (1991) and Ph.D (2007) degrees in Educational Evaluation at the International Centre for Educational Evaluation (ICEE), Institute of Education, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. He has served as a Lecturer in the former Lagos State College of Education, Ijanikin, (now Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Ijanikin, Lagos), where he taught Basic Statistics, Tests and Measurement and Research Methods. In July 2011, he was appointed a Sabbatical Fellow in the prestigious and foremost African-based Research Organisation: The African Population and Health Research Centre (APHRC), Nairobi, Kenya, where he served as a dedicated team member in the Education Research Programme. In University of Calabar, Dr Ekuri has been teaching and contributing to the graduation of studnts at all levels. He has served in several Departmental and Faculty Committees including Departmental Examinations Officer, Faculty Research/Conference Committee, Faculty Strategic Planning Committee, Pioneer Editor, Education News (The News Bulletin of The Faculty of Education, Unical), to mention but a few. Dr Ekuri was also the Chairman, Faculty Graduate Committee and a Representative of the Faculty of Education in Graduate School Board of the University of Calabar between 2014 and 2019, where he served as Chairman of Chairmen, and Chairman, Business Committee. He is currently the pioneer Coordinator, Graduate School Resources Development Unit Inc., University of Calabar. The Graduate School Resources Development Unit is a unit charged with the responsibility of Linkages, Research Grants sourcing, Job Placement, E Learning, Online Transcript and Training on Research Methods and Communication Skills. He is a member of several Professional Bodies, including Science Teachers Association of Nigeria, Association of Educational Researchers and Evaluators of Nigeria, Association for Educational Assessment in Africa, International Association of Innovations in Educational Assessment, amongst others He has carried out extensive research work in Education Evaluation, Measurement and Testing; and also collaborated in areas such as HIV/AIDs, and Social Psychology. He has published over twenty five peer reviewed journal articles in reputable international and local journals, one book, and four book chapters. He is proficient in the use of several computer packages, namely: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point and Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). He is married with children.
