About Dr. Ekaete Vincent Ukpong

Dr Ekaete Vincent Ukpong was born on the 12th December, 1971, in Ibiono, Akwa Ibom State and hails from Eket Local Government in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria She is married with four Children. Dr Ekaete Ukpong is a Radiographer/ Imaging Scientist with interest in research, having a widespread knowledge in Radiography and Radiological Procedures and Radiological Business Management. She is result oriented, working effectively and efficiently to achieve set goals with team work as a watchword. Focused on excellence and building a strong base for sustainable growth in her profession through hard work, discipline and commitment to work. She began her education at the Salvation Army Primary School, Akai Ubium in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State in 1979, where she obtained her first school leaving certificate, and she proceeded to State College, Ikot Ekpene for a year, moved to Federal Government Girls College, Langtang where she obtained her Junior Secondary School Certificate with 7 credits and 3 Alphas in 1987. She later left for Federal Government Girls College, Abuloma, Port Harcourt in Rivers State, due to the proximity to her state of residence. There she obtained her Senior Secondary School certificate with 5 Alphas and 3 credits, in 1990. In 1991, she gained admission into the Department of Radiology in University of Calabar where she obtained a Bachelors Degree in Medical Radiography with a second class lower, in 1997 and proceeded for her compulsory National Youth Service Corp to University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Calabar. Nigeria. Her keen interest in business and entrepreneurship was instrumental to her divergent into having a Post Graduate Diploma certificate in Management in 2005 and an Executive Masters in Business Administration in 2007. She returned to her profession in 2013, where she obtained an M.Sc in Radiographic Anatomy in 2016 and a Ph.D Radiographic Anatomy, in 2021. Dr Ekaete Ukpong, due to her vast knowledge in Radiography and Radiological Sciences is skilled in the following clinical procedures; General/ Conventional Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Computed/Digital Radiography, Computed Tomography (CT) scan, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Ultrasonography Scan, Mammography, Clinical and Image interpretation/ Pattern Recognition, Theoretical skills in nuclear Medicine and Image processing. Her keen interest in business and further studies in business management expands her horizon into other skills which include; Entrepreneurship development, Business plan development, Good communication, Mentoring, counselling abilities, Leadership and interpersonal communication skills, team development, event planning and management, business development, pressure management, multitasking, motivational speaking and ability to encourage and motivate. Dr Ekaete Vincent Ukpong is multi-talented, her religious background and love for God has gained her access into several levels of responsiblilities. She obtained a Basic Certificate in Evangelism, Missions and Development from In-gathering Institute for Evangelism(an Alumnus of Haggai Institute, Maui, U.S.A), Calabar, CRS in 1999. She has obtained Basic certificate in 2004, Leadership Certificate in 2005 and a Leadership Diploma Certificate in 2008, all from the Word of Faith Bible Institute, Calabar Campus. Dr Ekaete Vincent Ukpong was employed as a Technologist II in the Department of Radiography and Radiological Sciences, Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, University of Calabar, Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria on the 19th of June 2012, with the job description of supervising and guiding the students during laboratory posting involving Practical Photography, Equipment, Radiographic Anatomy and Radiographic technique. Demonstration of positioning techniques for Radiography, reporting challenges encountered during laboratory postings to Academic Board of the Department for effectiveness in delivery of lectures. Her appointment was regularized on the 4th of June, 2013 and confirmed on the 25th of June, 2014. She got promoted to the rank of Technologist I on the 1st of October, 2016. She converted from an Academic Technologist II to Lecturer II in the Department of Radiography and Radiological Science, Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, on the 22nd of June 2018. She lectures the following undergraduate courses; Radiological Health Management/Quality Assurance, Radiographic Anatomy and Imaging Processes, Radiographic Photography and Imaging Processes, Entrepreneurship skills in Radiography, Psychology for Radiographers, Radiographic Anatomy/Pattern Recognition. The following are the Postgraduate courses she lectures; Diagnostic Imaging Processes and Radiobiology and Chemistry, Radiology Health Management. She became a member of the National Association of Academic Technologists of the University of Calabar (2012-2018) as she got employed as a Technologist in the Department of Radiography and Radiological Sciences and a member of Academic Staff Union of Universities as she converted to academics (2018 till date).
